BLOWN GLASS

Glass is all around us, but never have you handled glass like this before. Experience molten glass at 2100° as you design and pull your creation. Come and enjoy this unique experience.

Only one person can make an item at once, but family and friends are welcome to watch and take photos.

Please arrive five minutes prior to your appointment to complete waivers and choose colors. Late arrivals (more than five minutes) will result in the cancellation of your appointment. A 48-hour notice is required for any cancellations or rescheduling. No-shows will be charged the full appointment fee.

As all items created in the hot shop require 24 hours to cool, they must be picked up the following day, or the following Monday if the appointment falls on a Saturday. Should you be unable to pick up your items in person, we offer shipping for an additional fee.

 CANDY BOWL EXPERIENCE

A candy bowl comes with up to two colors. All objects made in the hot shop are one of a kind and will vary in size and appearance.  The average size of a candy bowl is approximately 7”x7”x3” All students must be at least 10 years old. Once you have hand-crafted your glass, it will take up to 24 hours for your item to cool and be ready for pick up or shipping.

PAPERWEIGHT EXPERIENCES

Paperweights can be made with up to 3 colors and in your choice of style. All objects made in the hot shop are one of a kind and will vary in size and appearance.  The average size of a paperweight is approximately 4” in diameter. All students must be at least 15 years old. Once you have hand-crafted your glass, it will take up to 24 hours for your item to cool and be ready for pick up or shipping.

An advanced flower comes with up to two colors and in you choice of tulip or daylily shape. All objects made in the hot shop are one of a kind and will vary in size and appearance. The average size of an advanced flower is approximately 15”x 4”-5” All students must be at least 15 years old. Once you have hand-crafted your glass, it will take up to 24 hours for your item to cool and be ready for pick up or shipping.

Memory Sphere

A memory sphere comes with up to 3 colors. All objects made in the hot shop are one of a kind and will vary in size and appearance. The average size of a memory sphere is approximately 4”-5” in diameter. All students must be at least 15 years old.  VALENTINE’S ROSES

A Valentine’s rose comes with your choice of up to two colors. All objects made in the hot shop are one of a kind and will vary in size and appearance. The average size of a Valentine’s rose is approximately 15”x 1.5”-2” All students must be at least 15 years old. Once you have hand-crafted your glass, it will take up to 24 hours for your item to cool and will be ready for pick up or shipping the next work day. Available January through February.

 Glassblowing 101 Class

Start your glass making experience with “Introduction to Furnace Working”. This fun and educational 4-week class is offered as a 12-hour program. Students will create solid works of art from molten glass in a variety of forms, using solid working techniques. Blown glass is not a part of this introductory course. Solid working only.

Classes start with the instructor demonstrating a solid piece of glass. During that process, students will learn basic vocabulary and techniques. Then the instructor will assist the student(s) in realizing their choice of colored solid glass items which you get to keep. Materials are included.

Our approach for teaching glass blowing is to make it a fun, exciting, and unique experience for everyone involved. Each student will leave the studio with a special sense of accomplishment and a new appreciation of the process of working a ball of molten glass into a unique finished piece of art. We will not be focusing on quantity, but rather on technique and basic fundamentals of solid glass working.

Cancellation is available up to 2 weeks before the first class. There will be no make-up classes.

Week 1: Safety orientation, gathering glass, color application and making flowers.

Week 2: How to properly use glass tools and introduction to paperweight making.

Week 3: Hot sculpting animals cats, birds and fish
